ENERGY RATED WINDOWS
Welglaze Energy Rated Windows
What does it all mean?
Window Energy Rating
Window Energy Ratings were launched in 2004 by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC), an independent organisation dedicated to improving the energy efficiency of fenestration products. The BFRC is now part of the Glass and Glazing Federation.
A window’s rating is determined by a formula which takes into account available solar heat gains (window g-value) and subtracts the thermal losses (window U-value and air leakage). The resulting numerical value (Energy Index) is then placed into a band on an A-G scale consistent with other energy performance labels already familiar to the consumer.
Window U-value
˛K). The lower the U-value the better the thermal performance. The U-value of a window is a measurement of the rate of heat loss indicating how well windows are keeping valuable heat in. It is expressed as Watts per square metre Kelvin (W/m

SGG PLANITHERM® low-E glass!Planitherm Total is a soft coat energy efficient glass that is used as the inner pane of all sealed units for Welglaze’s Energy Rated Windows.
Here are just some of the reasons to choose
Better thermal insulation
Reducing heat loss further, saving you even more money on heating bills.

More comfortable rooms
Better insulation means fewer cold spots and drafts near windows or doors.

Less condensation
The inner surface of the glass stays warmer thereby reducing the likelihood of
condensation.
Less of a tint to the glass
This gives clearer vision through your windows and means your curtains or Georgian Bars do not look dirty or discoloured.

More light
Less tint also means more light can enter the room, making a more comfortable environment and reducing the need for extra lighting inside.

Less chance of ‘haze’ (dusty effect)
This effect is more common with traditional types of thermally insulating glass due to the way it is manufactured.

Environmentally friendly
Less need for heating helps to reduce energy consumption.
Window Energy Rating
SGG PLANITHERM TOTAL combines excellent thermal insulation with high solar heat gain, making it one of the most energy efficient products available under the BFRC Window Energy Rating scheme.
